Multi-level marketing (MLM) is definitely the way to go for people aspiring to have more than just enough to get by on. Most of the world's leading economic forecasters say that by the turn of the century, fully 75% of the world's consumer business will be conducted via multi-level marketing plans.

The thing to do is to learn all you can about this method of selling - how it works, and why it works - and then to get going with a multi-level marketing program that can accumulate a fortune for you. Make no mistake about it, multi-level marketing has made a lot of people very rich already, and will make a lot more people even richer in the coming years.

Multi-level marketing is based upon the idea of each person involved selling only to his or her friends, with each of these people in turn, introducing their friends into the program. It's definitely an "endless chain" idea that has unlimited money-making potential.

Theoretically, everybody knows or comes into contact with an average of 100 different people each week. If only 10 of those people were to give you $10 per week, you would have an income of $100 per week. And then, if these people were to duplicate your efforts, passing back to you, $1 for each new person they enlisted into the program, your income would soon become astronomical!

So, multi-level marketing appeals to everybody because it's an opportunity for all the participants to get rich with a minimum investment, and very little time or effort or involvement.

The basic fallacy of multi-level marketing is in the number of people each individual participant can easily enlist into the program. It is not hard, just stay honest and serve your customers and team members to the absolute best of your ability, and you will surely grown a profitable business.

THE BASICS OF MLM PROGRAMS

First understand that a legitimate MLM program is NOT an illegal "pyramid scheme."

It is 100% legal and many multimillion companies market their product strictly through MLM promotion.

Some of the best known MLM companies include Herbalife, Amway, Shaklee, Tupperware, Princess House (a subsidiary of Colgate Palmolive), A.L. Williams, Mary Kay Cosmetics, U.S. Sprint, MCI, and NSA.

These companies have been around for decades. There are actually 100's to 1,000's more MLM companies. Like other companies, some are good and some are not so good.

But one thing is for sure. MLM is here to stay, and it is an explosive growth field!

So what's the big attraction to MLM companies and programs?

Well, it represents a wonderful opportunity for the "little fella" to start his own business on a part time basis and make a whole lot of money!

Many earn well into the large 6 figures (over $1,000,000)! How is this possible? The concept is fairly simple.

MLM companies offer their products and services through independent distributors who can then recruit other distributors. That way, a distributor can buy the MLM products at a discount and earn money selling the product directly to others.

He also earns "overrides" for the distributors that he has sponsored. And it gets better. Normally, a Distributor also earns "overrides" for several levels that are deep in his organization.

These Distributors are also sometimes called his "downline" or his "organization". You have probably seen how an organization can grow, but I'll show you again just in case.

Let's say that your organization has 5 levels. Let's assume that you sponsor 5 people, and everyone does likewise. Your downline would then grow like this:

Level 1 = 5 Distributors
Level 2 = 25 Distributors
Level 3 = 125 Distributors
Level 4 = 625 Distributors
Level 5 = 3,125 Distributors
Total = 3,905 Distributors

Now that's quite a few distributors! Even if you earned only $10 a month for each distributor in your "downline", you would be earning $39,050 a month!

- It is NOT an INVESTMENT PROGRAM! Just because you bought a business opportunity, it will forever be a business 'opportunity' and not a business if you sit and do nothing. This is not Unit Trust or Mutual funds or a Fixed Deposit Savings Account. The money doesn't grow by you becoming a distributor. The more you invest doesn't mean you will necessarily earn more.

- It is NOT a GET RICH QUICK SCHEME! Those who make it big in MLM within a short time are the EXCEPTION to the NORM. Do you have what they have? (The experience, built trusts, contacts, paid the price) Everyone who has made it had all paid the price.

- It is NOT totally a SALES RECRUITMENT PROGRAM. Some like to sell. Some are salespersons, being good in sales will not make you succeed in MLM.

- It is not MUSICAL CHAIRS. It is never about whom gets there first, sponsor a few people then sit down and watch the group build itself while the latecomers miss out on the opportunity forever. Remember that if the downline works harder, they will eventually earn more than their uplines.

- It is not a 9-5 JOB. In a 9-5 job, some people get away without doing any work sometimes (they still get their salary). But it is very obvious in Network Marketing that what you GIVE is what you GET.

- It is not a CLONING MACHINE. I am not down playing the need for uniformity and like-mind direction but remember that EVERYONE is DIFFERENT. Different people have a different personal touch when it comes to recruiting. Their relationships with their prospects vary from groups to groups.

- It is NOT a 100 METER DASH. It is a marathon. Business builders must pace themselves over a period of time. Going 'all out' to the point of exhaustion is just bad because it is the quality of the work that counts, not the quantity. Don't 'close the back door' or jump into the deep end without a float.

- It is DEFINITELY not a RELIGION. Please never ever treat your business like it is the ONLY business worth getting into (friend, if you don't get into MY MLM and if you join others, you are not my friend). They are NOT losers if they don't join you! Please don't ever, EVER do this. You will lose a lot of true friends.

Mothers who work at home (or Wahms) are a growing population of working America.

As more and more women want to spend time with their children and need to bring in an income, there has been a boom in the work at home industry. Making the decision to work at home is not always an easy one. You'll need to decide if being a Wahm is right for you and your family.

There are many benefits to working out of the home. The isolation of working at home can be an issue for some women. There are also challenges related to juggling work time and family time.

You'll also have to look at the impact that working from home will have on your family's financial situation. If you are moving from a high-paying full time job to working part time from home while you care for your child, there will definitely be some financial adjustments.

However, whatever your cut in pay will be, you have to weigh that versus the costs of putting your child into daycare full time.

Although it may seem like your work at home pay will be minimal compared to your full time out of the home job, you need to consider how much it will cost for daycare.

If you can make an equal amount of money or more by working part time from home and taking care of your child yourself, it is well worth it financially to stay at home.

However, some women see that raising their child without the use of daycare, whether or not they make a significant income, is the real benefit of being a Wahm.

The perks of raising your own child, while still bringing in money for the family, are many. Children are only young once, and being able to stay at home with them is one of the top reasons that women choose a Wahm career.

There are also several qualities that make a Wahm successful. Before you start working at home, evaluate whether you have these qualities or can develop them.

Working at home normally fits into two different categories. You can either work as an independent contractor for a company or you can work for yourself. You'll need to be extremely self-motivated and work well without having a supervisory presence in your work environment.

Even those who choose to work for a company are responsible for scheduling their own time and meeting deadlines without a lot of input from supervisors.

Another important skill to have as a Wahm is time management. When you work out the home, you are confronted with two sets of challenges each day. If you focus too much on your work, your house will get out of control, and vice versa. Having good time management skills will help you tackle the diverse challenges of being a Wahm.

Making the decision to become a Wahm requires a lot of thought and consideration. If you are thinking about working from home because you are having a baby, or because you are tired of sending your children to daycare, take some time to write down the pros and cons of becoming a Wahm.

Talk things over with your family to ensure that you are making the right decision for the family unit. There are plenty of resources online for moms who are looking to find out more about the realities of working at home.

Once you've considered your position and done the necessary research, you'll be better equipped to make the right decision for you.

And in this day and age, who wants to be out 'on the road' door-knocking, or taking calls in the middle of the night from ads & flyers... just to get a core group of customers?

I have done it all before, the old fashioned way. And although I qualified to a reasonable level within the company, it simply was not sustainable.

No matter how much you love your products - the old fashioned way of cold calling, expensive newspaper classified advertisements, attending countless meetings every week waiting for prospects that don't show, dealing with rejections etc. becomes all just too painful for most of us to take month after month, year after year.

But what we "baby boomers / Generation X / Generation Y" DO ENJOY, for hours and hours on end, day after day, month after month, and in my case - year after year, is socializing and marketing ourselves on the internet. And we love spending countless hours hanging out in Social Network sites collecting hundreds of 'friends' ... oh - admit it! Some of us are even addicted to our computers. We love them and our internet friends inside our computers.

So how appealing is the thought to you that you can now have all that FUN totally guilt free because you are actually building your network of retail customers and recruiting your distribution team while you 'socialize' on the net?

This is how I use this website.

Of course we can still talk to people in person and do whatever feels comfortable and appropriate off-line, to increase our income stream. But the core 'job' I have in my business, is playing on the computer every day, and processing the orders to customers when my PayPal notification emails come in.

And if you are already promoting some affiliate products or services in a little 'internet marketing business' - great - by all means keep doing what you already do, and just add our nutritional products & wellness consulting to your marketing bow. AND HAVE FUN DOING IT!!

Herbalife International is a direct sales company. Turnover is in the Billions. That means millions of people using the products. To build cashflow with Herbalife you need to put together a customer group.

Saving on rent isn't the only advantage you'll enjoy once you've discovered a profitable way of doing business at home.

If you have the necessary license and papers to do business at home, you have the right to apply to the IRS as well for home office tax deductions.

Who and What Qualifies for Home Office Tax Deductions

Let's talk about technical requirements later. For now, let's concentrate on the who part: whether you're the owner or you're just leasing or renting the place you're doing business in, you're still eligible to apply for home office tax deductions.

Fortunately for all of us, the IRS isn't very fussy when it comes to the definition of home. It can be anything between a home, apartment or condominium unit, or even a trailer; the important thing is that it's a place where you can cook and sleep.

Requirements for Home Office Tax Deduction

All, not just some, but all requirements specified below must be complied if you wish to get home office tax deductions:

Regular and Exclusive Use of Home - You must use your house as your worksite in a continuous basis; secondly, the part which represents your worksite must be exclusively used for your home business. If your home office doubles as a study room, that will make you automatically ineligible for home office tax deductions.

Storage - Storing your products or inventory at home will also allow you to enjoy tax deductions just as long as you don't have another warehouse outside home.

Principal Place of Business - Similarly, if you have another office outside home, you won't be able to fulfill this particular requirement. Your home must be the only place where you conduct your business.

Tips for Claiming Home Office Tax Deductions
Don't attempt to deceive the IRS. If you have another office outside home, the IRS will know about it sooner or later and then you'll be in deeper trouble.

Always have your clients sign a log book whenever you meet them at home. This will serve as proof for the IRS that you're indeed using your home as your business' headquarters as well.

Warn your family and friends from trespassing in your business office. Explain to them the need to keep exclusive use of the room so that they won't take your refusals to heart.

Lastly, separate as much as possible of your household accounts from your business expenses. If you're able to apply for a business phone line, do so.

If you can have a separate meter for your electricity installed, do so. Doing so will make yours and the IRS' job easier.

Starting A Business 101

Investors start businesses for various reasons. You may want a better lifestyle for you and your family, or you may be tired of working for others. However, starting a business, no matter what the reason, is not easy. You will have to have dedication and patience.

First, you have to find something you are interested in. Just because something to profitable for one person, does not mean that you are going to be successful. The key is to find something that interests you, because if you are not interested in it, then chances are you will not be able to give the time and effort that it takes to be successful.

You will have to look into what you are interested in, then you will have to research various businesses or investments. For example: if you are interested in collecting old antiques, then you may want to consider starting an antiques business. Get a piece of paper and write down all your interests and business ideas that is related to that topic. This is the first step to starting your business.

Once you have decided what interests you, then you will need to start researching what kind of business you will want. Depending on your situation, you will have a number of options including: an online business, physical business(a business that has a store or office), a mobile business (a business where you provide products or services onsite), or home based business.

What would benefit you and your business more? If you are not sure, you may want to consider starting with a few different options to see what works the best.

Next, you will have to consider your resources. If you are selling products, where will you obtain these products? Are their distributors in the area? If you are selling services, such as construction and remodeling, do you have all the necessary tools to complete the jobs?

If your business is going to be online, do you have the necessary knowledge to work with the websites you will need (eBay, creating your own website, etc). If not, do you know someone who can? You will have to consider all of these factors.

Once you get an idea of what you are wanting to do, and whether or not you have the resources to complete it, you will then want to consider where the money will come from. The old saying "you need money to make money" is extremely true when it comes to starting a business. Initially, you will need money to obtain your location, you products, or your resources necessary to complete your services.

Then once you launch your business, you will need money to live on until your business become successful (your business may not be profitable for awhile). Unless you have the money on hand, you may want to consider looking into business loans or grants.

Finally, once you have completed the plan for your business, you will then have to start thinking about promoting it, after all, a business is not profitable without customers and clientele. What type of advertising best suits your business? Will you advertise locally or nationally?

There are several types of advertising. Media advertising includes placing ads on radio stations, television channels, and in various other publications. These types of ads are often much more affordable then larger types of advertising.

Alternatively, you may want to consider larger advertising such as billboard, or online marketing such as website.
